So, basically your saying it works but not when you boot via grub's pxe stack?

No real idea, but please try syslinux-3.83:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/install:/head/openSUSE_Factory/i586/

BTW, there is also a gpxelinux.0 in the syslinux package. Does that
work better?
