http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561803 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561803#c0 Summary: Starting from Live-CD unable to startX Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: barry.nichols@my.westminster.ac.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.0.260.0 Safari/532.5 When I start up from KDE Live-CD all seems to be going well, until X starts, when I should be presented with the second splash screen and then the desktop, instead I am presented with a flash and a black screen, at which the keyboard does nothing and I have to use the power button to restart. To overcome the problem I had to start in runlevel 3 and run: 'sax2 -r -m o=vesa' and 'init 5' to get to the desktop. If new users are getting this when they try a Live-CD which should "just work" I'm sure they'll be reaching for the *buntu/Fedora install disk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start up from Live-CD 2. 3. Actual Results: Black Screen appears at the end of startup Expected Results: Desktop should appear I have an ATI Radeon Xpress graphics card. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
