I have a notebook with esata support and an external esata disk. it is not
recognized on hotplug. hotplug does work with windows vista, which is also
installed on that notebook.
on hotplug "tail -f /var/log/messages" outputs nothing and no "/dev/sdXX" entry
is created.
this is from "hwinfo --block" with device plugged in at boot time and mounted
manually later:
