Summary: grub assigns wrong harddisk ID's
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.2
Version: Final
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@xxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.1.3)
Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-3.2 Firefox/3.5.3
When installing openSUSE 11.2 on a system with a scsi and an sata disk, the
disks are erratically entered into /etc/grub.conf and /boot/grub/menu.lst,
ending in a system that does not boot.
If I look into /etc/grub.conf, I see
setup --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 --force-lba (hd1) (hd1,0)
quit
this should say
setup --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 --force-lba (hd0) (hd0,0)
quit
Similar swaps show in /boot/grub/menu.lst, where wrong id's get assigned to the
disks.
On openSUSE 11.1 I see comparable effects on a system using an ide and a sata
drive, however there it is not /etc/grub that is affected but it is only
/boot/grub/menu.conf where wrong assignments are done to identify the disks.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
No OS on boot.
Expected Results:
Well, guess what :-)
