I did try several older versions in live cd or would it be better to test them
fully installed?

The versions tried were: 

Ubuntu 7,8 and the latest enhanced for laptops but none did make a sound. 

Opensuse 10.4 KDE, 11.2 KDE4 and 11.2 gnome and this last one was the only to
have emitted a one single beep at the uploading stage in live cd mode. Maybe
because it uses pulsesound instead os alsa? Or maybe i will just have to wait
for the next laptop or a fix in the new kernel?
