I tried another monitor (MacomN96D, 19", 1600x1200) and the graphical system
still does not start.
Also switching to xdm as displaymanager brought no improvement.
With the Samsung monitor and the framebuffer-driver I managed once (!) to reach
the graphical display, without changing anything with respect to the state when
I gave the bug report,
but then, the /home partition was not mounted and I had no control panel.
When I started Yast, and opened ,,Hardware'' there was no entry for
,,graphic card and monitor'', although the card was identified correctly
according to all the log-Files.
Another information:
I did not format the whole HD during the installation, but used the old
partitions from OpenSUSE 10.1. Only the root partition was formatted.
The home-partition remained unchainged. Could this be a problem?
But I noticed that in addition to the old .kde-folder, a new folder .kde4
was created. And when I boot into runlevel 3, the home-partition is mounted
and accessible.
