http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=470341 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=470341#c50 --- Comment #50 from Egbert Eich <eich@novell.com> 2009-11-24 10:30:11 UTC --- Andreas, thanks for your reports. To summarize for myself: Comment #42 - log for RS780 board VGA connected thru KVM, load detection doesn't work, uses xorg.conf file. Comment #43 - log for RS780 board VGA connected directly, load detection works, uses xorg.conf file. I've now implemented two load detection alogrithms - the second more intrusive one is known to work better with KVM switches, however there may still be some switches which behave differently. Andreas: here is one thing you can try: If you still have a config file, please add the line: Option "UseAtomBIOS" "1" to the device section and see if you get a picture when the VGA is behind a KVM switch. About Comment #46: So if you boot up the box with the VGA connected correctly you get the correct resolution (1680x1050) even if you start X *with* the KVM. Do I understand this correctly? About Comment #47: kill -15 <pid> should kill the Xserver cleanly (ie it will properly close the logs). But you should be able to terminate X using ctrl-alt-backspace (pressed twice). If this doesn't work xkb isn't initialized - which doesn't seem to be the case looking at the log file. Andreas, this bug already contains a lot of information and is therefore difficult to handle. Please let us concentrate on the questions I've raised in this comment and deal with why 1680x1050 is working in some situations later. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
