http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=556219#c0 Summary: network card setup alias not deleted from ifcfg-eth0 when deleted from yast additional addresses Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Peter.W.Lawson@noaa.gov QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009102100 SUSE/3.0.15-0.1 Firefox/3.0.15 In ethernet card setup, aliases are written to ifcfg-ethX. When I deleted an alias in yast (Network Settings - Overview - Edit - <highlight alias> - Delete) the alias was restored when the network was restarted. ifcfg-eth0 looked like this: BOOTPROTO='dhcp' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IPADDR='' MTU='' NAME='RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller' NETMASK='' NETWORK='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' IPADDR_monte='161.55.180.24/24' LABEL_monte='monte' The last two lines specify the alias. I commented them out and the alias was removed. Problem solved. Yast should delete the alias from ifcfg-ethX when it is deleted in the UI. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.establish an alias in network card setup 2.delete the alias 3.restart network services 4.observe that alias persists Actual Results: As described. Aliases are added, but not deleted. Expected Results: I would expect that deleting the alias in yast network card setup would be reflected on network services restart -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
