This would save *much* bandwidth and time, because compression rates are very big with such iso files. I tried compressing the 4.4 GB iso for SUSE 64bit DVD with bzip2 and got a 330 MB file !! This means 93% less bandwidth for such downloads. Maybe other compressions should be tested, to choose the best one.
