Just before the installation starts:

/usr/share/YaST2/clients/inst_prepareprogress.ycp

runs:

"du -x -B 1024 -s %1", "/" takes really long time, approximately 8 minutes on
openSUSE Edu live DVD where the compressed size is 2.8G and normal size is
about 8G.

df should be used in place of du as it is much faster returning the size of /
if that is all it requires.
