Summary: kmail interface is ugly, usability bad
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.1
Version: Final
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: KDE3
AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@xxxxxxx
ReportedBy: grey-olli@xxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.13)
Gecko/2009080200 SUSE/3.0.13-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.13
I've a few IMAP email accounts. On each mail heck I see a logo. The logo
replaces menu, so I can't choose type of sorting or message list view while it
is checking folders. It's very annoying, especially on slow internet
connections.
Sorting type is not remembered between folders. That takes user time if default
is not reasonable - hence that's annoying too.
The account checking is not multitasking, though the password promt is
appearing many times & user has to find out which one window appeared 1st - no
ability to enter passwords in other order than window invokation. With fluxbox
or any other window manager allowing to start apps easy on a fiven desktop
(yes, KDE is ugly & slow - I use only some KDE apps due to some reason) this is
very annoying - client is started & there're many password prompts for mail
access that cannot be used in any order, but only in invocation one (which is
not known).
I found that mine version of kmail has some bugs w/ pointers - some times I get
crashes of kmail with dublicate messages in folder index.
I use gmail w/ IMAP for example.
olli@acer15> rpm -qf `which kmail` ; echo "------"; rpm -qa | grep -i KDE |
grep -i base

kdebase3-SuSE-branding-openSUSE-11.1-65.3
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Use kmail as IMAP client, put mouse over a folder & wait till this ugly slow
@$#% allows you press a key to get a sorting type for the folder.
Actual Results:
I wish I never use that programm soon.. Though if my report will change
something - it's the reason I post it. =)
