What does 'destroyed' mean? Which code was in MBR after the installation?
It means I cannot load my old system (black screen no bootloader) after installing OpenSuse 11.2 with GrubBootLoader option set to "/" , i.e. /dev/sda11. I must run "LINUX RESCUE" via first system DVD (CentOS 5.3) and issue # grub-install /dev/sda Moreover I must switch boot flag to /dev/sda1 from /dev/sda11, then add title OpenSuse 11.2 rootnoverify (hd0,10) chainloader +1 to my original grub.conf to load Suse the way i want.
From various reasons, we (Novell) do not support installing bootloader if there is no primary partition available (you should get a warning).
No one of RH's system F12,F11,F10,CentOS 5.X as well Ubuntu Servers 9.X,8.X, OpenSolaris 1002-b12X behaves the way OpenSuse 11.X does. Fedoras (Ubuntus) never touch Grub Stage 1 installed on /dev/sda if it's instructed install bootloader on /dev/sda11 instead of MBR. So, for RH,Canonical,Sun this various reasons don't exist at all. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
