I can add to this:

Thinkpad X200, Intel GM45 graphics:
after zypper dup to 11.2-RC2, booting into RL5 doesn't work,
system stops at "Starting HAL ....done", but still responds to SYSRQ and Ctrl
Alt Del. (normal and failsafe system behave the same).
I can boot into RL3, and then switch to RL 5 by hand, work OK.
I suspected a problem in earlykdm, but booting into RL3 and then running
/etc/init.d/earlykdm start brings up kdm OK.

Maybe a duplicate of #551135, i'm adding a comment there as well.

Can provide more detailed info if needed
