Sure, I tried all possible combination for the same result.
I also tried the nouveau driver from the build repo, but it also fails.

Meanwhile I have finally started to use the proprietary driver, because it is
essential for me to suspend.
It does work well.

But I don't have anymore the Xorg log.

As far as I am concerned, and because no many people seem to use the free
driver, you can close this bug.
