If you cancel the CUPS install, there are numerous follow-on errors about not being able to stop he CUPS server. On service machines, I do not want a lot of unnecessary software, and typically do not install the CUPS server. If you work through all of the pop-ups and error messages, you can eventually configure the remote printer.
