There are no server failures (expected due to the issue seen) that are related
to this corruption and it didn't help much.
I think the intermittent nature of this bug make it very difficult for me to
reproduce myself. There is a easy, practical way to find some useful
information.
When the problem is reproducible (i.e. mails from unknown sender, date etc.. is
seen):
- cd to .kde dir
- start the packet capture on another terminal on the NFS client by doing
tcpdump -i <interface> -s0 -w /tmp/nfs-kmail-corruption.cap host
- also enable NFS debugging at the same time by doing as root:
dmesg -c (clears kernel ring buffer)
rpcdebug -m nfs -s dircache lookupcache (set debug flags at runtime)
- do the operation
ls -l mail
dmesg >/tmp/nfs-debug.txt
rpcdebug -m nfs -c dircache lookupcache (clear debug flags)
- stop the packet capture
Attach the packet capture and the debug log. I think that certainly should give
some headway..
