Somehow you don't seem to get the point, I am not discussing anything here, nor
do I want to.
All I am trying to achieve, is to make you aware of a malfunction of the
bridge.
A bridge is not intended to connect devices to the workstation carrying it, but
rather to let _any_ traffic pass through in _any_ direction.
So, if the attached NAS can not reach the internet through the bridge for
getting updates or the proper time. And if participants in the local network
can not get data from the NAS through the bridge, then it's simply not doing
what it's supposed to do: bridging.
Anyway, in the meantime I tried setting the MTU to various values, making sure
they apply to the bridge as well as attached NICs. This doesn't make any
difference.
