Oh, I guarantee you that explaining this behaviour to every single non-expert
user - new to openSUSE or not - will be a total nightmare.
And saying that users should know about available upgrades, despite the package
manager hiding them, is the same as saying that you don't care if non-experts
are able to use the distro.
Furthermore, I think most experienced Linux users will find this so annoying
they won't use it either.
