I would like to add that I created a VM running under VirtualBox (SUN) without
a LVM or RAID and the update from M8 to RC1 went perfectly and even fixed a
problem with VLC that had been plaguing all instances of 11.2 factory that I
had previously tried much to my great pleasure, so the RAID/LVM/mkinitrd
problem is (to me) a major problem but is isolated to those that use RAID/LVM
as part of their container holding their root partition, or so it would seem.  
This probably is because of mkinitrd not being able to get at everything it
needs when it needs it?
