However, I think it is important that inactive menu items be visually distinguishable from active ones, and one should not have to hover the mouse or use the keyboard to understand if an item in the menu is inactive. Esp. with applications like gimp where there are many items in one menu, it is painful with the present configuration to distinguish between active and inactive items. Why is important to read inactive items? And if it indeed so important, why do we see conflicting positions between this bug and #526004#c24. I agree with the position of #526004#c24 totally, and therefore my strong feeling is that it is better to have slightly hard to read inactive items than having them look similar to the active ones. Not that they were so hard to read with the pre-M8 configuration too. Please look at the attachment again and see if you don't have a problem distinguishing the active and inactive items.
