Summary: zypper in foo.rpm doesn't install required
dependencies
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.2
Version: Factory
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: libzypp
AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: bitdealer@xxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
I just installed Skype from their rpm on my 64 bit system and noticed that the
package gets installed but not any required dependencies which is plain bad
IMHO.
Since all the required stuff is available it should just be shown as to be
installed as well or it should bitch that required dependencies aren't
installed but simply installing the package without its dependencies is plain
bad.
How to reproduce:
"zypper in http://download.skype.com/linux/skype-2.1.0.47-suse.i586.rpm"
Upon running "skype" it will fail with "skype: error while loading shared
libraries: libXv.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory" and some others.
In short I had to install "xorg-x11-libXv-32bit libqt4-32bit libqt4-x11-32bit"
which should be all installed upon "zypper in skype....rpm".
$ rpm -qa | grep zypp | sort
libzypp-6.17.0-1.6.x86_64
zypper-1.2.4-1.7.x86_64
