http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=543989 Summary: Intel VGA loads "i915" instead "intel" module Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 8 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: noelamac@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Running from LiveCD, Gnome, 64 bits "lspci" shows the computer has an Intel 82Q963/Q965 Integrated Graphics Controller card (rev. 02), but "lsmod" says "i915" driver is being used instead the "intel" one, which I think should be the right for this card. I noted this after trying to activate desktop 3D effects and getting an error message about "desktops effects are not supported on the current hardware". So some questions arrises: 1/ Why is the "i915" driver loaded instead the "intel" one? 2/ If "i915" is the right one, why is 3D not enabled by default? 3/ How can users enable the 3D feature in a graphical and easy way? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
