This may be a 'bogus' or inapplicable comment, but were the "old" packages
actually "outdated" or _supposed_ to be replaced by 11.1 packages?
I.e. I could see a case where an 11.0 package was still usable with the new
system and didn't need replacing and no newer 11.1 version had been created for
it.
While I believe this is _rarely_ the case, it is a very *good* thing to do if a
package hasn't changed -- and the 11.0 package is compatible with the new 11.1
install.
This may have nothing to do with this situation, but just a 'general
comment'...old packages don't *need* to be deleted, unless they are replaced or
incompatible with the new system....(ideally). If the old package has
requirements of, say perl >=5.6, and glibc>=X.Y, and those prereqs are met,
then if they were specified correctly, the older packages should work on the
newer system. Personally, I'd like to see most packages default to continuing
to work in the presence of newer "requisites" that are known to be backward
compatible.
