My settings:
Kinternet internet tool>various settings>Server>Automatic detection DNS
Check>host names to look up in DNSMy check: www.suse.de www.suse.com (these I
have not touched)
I recalled why it worked earlier this year. Last Spring, I was not able to ping
after setting up my modem via YaST. I had to manually add the servers:
System>YaST>System>/etc/sysconfig
Editor>Network>General>Netconfig_DNS_Static_Servers and entered 209.244.0.3
209.244.0.4 in the field>okay (rebooted). I just did this and I am now able to
refresh the default repo-update, as well as the link at the main page for the
Package Repositories.
In YaSt, my settings are this:
System>YaST>Network Devices>Modem>Modem Devices>Edit>(next, next,
next)Connection Parameters>Manually (I tried to change it to "automatically",
but upon reboot, and checking Connection Parameters, it had reverted back to
"manually".
So, if there is another bug report concerning why DNS servers aren't
automatically detected for dial up users, then this is related.
Kinternet>Settings>View Configuration shows blank for both dns1 and dns2.
Thank you!
