The same version works like a charm on KDE 3 or Windows so it has to be something special with KWin 4 (doesn't matter if compositing is enabled or not). How to reproduce: 1. Get JDownloader from http://jdownloader.org/download/index 2. unzip the archive and cd into it 3. run "java -jar JDownloader.jar" 4.
