Also, to be sure, give the output of "rpm -qa | grep pulseaudio"

I see now you are using a bit old sound card, which likely hasn't been tested
well with pulseaudio.  So, try to play *without* pulseaudio if possible.  It's
possible on KDE, but on GNOME, it's a bit hard...

Also, try to add "tsched=0" to "load-module module-hal-detect" line in
/etc/pulse/default.pa file.
