xkb_layout should be "es" here. I do not understand this and I can't reproduce
either.

This one looks weird:

hald was not running yet when X started? Whatever

P.S:: eyboard layout is a user setting anyway and needs to be set by user in
the Xsession (KDE4 here) anyway.
