http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=516539 Summary: grep and pcre: grep should be compiled to use the pcre library Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060200 SUSE/3.0.11-0.1.1 Firefox/3.0.11 grep should be compiled to use the pcre library, giving it both better performance and substantially expanded support for perl-style regexes. I've run into some weird issues (only on openSUSE) which work great on Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS (and presumably RedHat) because all of those compile grep with pcre, but not openSUSE. It's clearly too late for 11.1 for please change this for 11.2!
