--- Comment #19 from David Gurvich
David, this is a seperate issue. In general:
i830 is really dead old hardware (first Intel mobile platform). I remember the Intel developers telling us that they don't have this hardware for testing available at all. So it's more or less completely untested and fixes for any issues are unlikely to come ...
The hardware is only dead to Intel. The thinkpad X30 has a keyboard that is better than any of the current small laptops and has a large enough screen without being too heavy or large. I don't believe that Intel will deliberately cripple the driver simply to move people to newer hardware. I have seen other reports of people having problems with intel graphics chipsets and recent kernels, much more recent chipsets than the i830. I simply wished to point out that the recent kernel and xorg updates seem to have resolved the issues for the i830 and may also resolve issues for newer hardware. The actual versions are kernel-2.6.30-rc6-git3-2-default and xorg-x11-server-7.4-36.5 with the Xorg.0.log showing server 1.6.1. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
