http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=500407 Summary: Solver solution isn't what I would expect Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cmorve69@yahoo.es QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Created an attachment (id=289565) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=289565) Solver test case Doing a "zypper -v dup" I get: The following package is going to be downgraded: neverball-1.4.0-94.136.x86_64 (openSUSE 11.1 Oss, openSUSE) The following NEW packages are going to be installed: libproxy0-gnome-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libproxy0-kde-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libproxy0-mozjs-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libproxy0-networkmanager-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libsndfile1-1.0.19-0.pm.1.x86_64 (Packman, http://packman.links2linux.de) poppler-data-0.2.1-2.1.1.noarch (openSUSE 11.1 Update, openSUSE) The following package is going to change vendor: neverball-1.4.0-94.136.x86_64 (openSUSE 11.1 Oss, openSUSE) - neverball is because I have version 1.5.1 installed but no available in any repo, ok - libproxy0* and poppler-data are packages "recommended" by others, ok - ...but why libsndfile1?? If I instead run "zypper -v dup --no-recommends" I get: The following package is going to be downgraded: neverball-1.4.0-94.136.x86_64 (openSUSE 11.1 Oss, openSUSE) The following package is going to change vendor: neverball-1.4.0-94.136.x86_64 (openSUSE 11.1 Oss, openSUSE) So you would suppose that before libsndfile1 was selected because it is also a recommended package. So I run "zypper -v inr" and: The following NEW packages are going to be installed: libproxy0-gnome-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libproxy0-kde-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libproxy0-mozjs-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) libproxy0-networkmanager-0.2.3-20.2.x86_64 (home:RedDwarf:multimedia, openSUSE Build Service) poppler-data-0.2.1-2.1.1.noarch (openSUSE 11.1 Update, openSUSE) So it seems libsndfile1 isn't a recommended package. Why then it dissapears when using the "--no-recommends" dup option??? Note that I have the official (wrongly named) "libsndfile-1.0.17-171.8.1" package installed. The update is to the (correctly named) libsndfile1-1.0.19-0.pm.1 package from Packman. Between, even if there is a name change, shouldn't "zypper lu -a" show the update from libsndfile to libsndfile1? It doesn't. Note that Packman (libsndfile1) has a lower priority than OSS (libsndfile)... another reason because libsndfile1 should have never been shown in zypper dup output. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
