Eh... I don't have much idea how to proceed here.  There was no response from
dm upstream regarding the alt_size approach and in general interest getting
this fixed seems quite low.  For both developers and vendors.  :-(

Have you tried whether there's a BIOS update?  I'll ping dm upstream once more.
