openSUSE developers live by "eat your own dogfood", and they do require network
as well, if it wouldn't work at all they sure would have noticed....
networkmanager-kde4 wasn't ready yet. It is the default in the kde4 pattern,
the networkmanager-kde4 released with 11.1 can be considered a preview, it is
up to this day still work in progress (but working pretty good)
So please try again with networkmanager-kde to discover WLANs and set a static
IP, it works fine for me, also remove networkmanager-kde4

The Management of the Network clearly has not ever been tested by either theQuite a bold claim...
application Programer nor picked up in BETA.
openSUSE developers live by "eat your own dogfood", and they do require network

Its bad enough to have 4 differentfor 11.1 you are supposed to use networkmanager-kde on kde4, as
applications to manage the network connection and even worse that none of them
function correctly
