--- Comment #16 from Tamás Németh 2009-04-16 04:11:32 MDT ---
I've tried to substitute the stop section of /etc/init.d/boot.multipath by an
openSUSE 10.3 like stanza:
maplist=$(/sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath | sed '/No devices/d' | cut -f 1)
stop)
echo -n "Removing multipath targets:"
# Remove all partition mappings
#NYME EIK 2008.07.09:
if /sbin/dmsetup ls | sed '/No devices/d' | grep -q -- _part; then
/sbin/dmsetup ls --target multipath --exec "/sbin/kpartx -d -p _part"
2>/dev/null
fi
# Flush all existing maps
for map in $maplist ; do
$PROGRAM -f $map
done
rc_failed 0
rc_status -v
;;
However, using this method, the system restarted again just because of issuing
/etc/init.d/boot.multipath: Total blackout and then machine restart, as
described in comment #12 . There were no such problems in openSUSE 10.3, so,
this is a regression in either the kernel or the /sbin/multipath utility. SLES
11 may also be affected, and it renders the system almost unusable for
demanding users.
In addition to this, sadly it's possible that some very basic disk-managing
subsystems of SuSE Linuxes need a revision:
