afaict so far, at least everything _else_ in the build is behaving -- DomUs are
fine,internal RAID (sata_nv) is OK.

apparently not :-/ same symptoms (no drives, console messages, ...) as without
it.

i assume you mean with the 'debug' kernel-default,
2.6.27.14-bug463829_dbg0_d49a1108-default.

does "stress test" have a defined meaning to you, like a specific test suite? 
or, just, e.g., filesystem copies to and from the disk?
