Summary: Knode crashes in KDE 4.2 when trying to post.
Suggested permission error.
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.1
Version: Final
Platform: 64bit
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: KDE4 Applications
AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@xxxxxxx
ReportedBy: hacker@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5)
Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.5 Firefox/3.0.5
In KDE4.2, I was trying to use Knode (as part of Kontact) but most times that I
tried to post a message Kontact would vanish. I've run it in the console and
got the following errors (with added comments) -
gpd@linux-ycg1:~> knode
knode(4411): ""lastExpire" - conversion of "-4713,1,1,0,0,0" to QDateTime
failed"
knode(4411): ""lastCompact" - conversion of "-4713,1,1,0,0,0" to QDateTime
failed"
Now select test newsgroup:
gpd@linux-ycg1:~> knode(4411) KMime::Types::Mailbox::setAddress: Invalid
address
knode(4411) KMime::Types::Mailbox::setAddress: Invalid address
knode(4411) KMime::Types::Mailbox::setAddress: Invalid address
knode(4411) KMime::Types::Mailbox::setAddress: Invalid address
knode(4411) KMime::Types::Mailbox::setAddress: Invalid address
knode(4411) KMime::Types::Mailbox::setAddress: Invalid address
. . etc.
gpd@linux-ycg1:~>
Now open new post editor:
gpd@linux-ycg1:~> Object::connect: No such signal
KNComposerEditor::sigDragEnterEvent(QDragEnterEvent*)
Object::connect: (receiver name: 'composerWindow')
Object::connect: No such signal KNComposerEditor::sigDropEvent(QDropEvent*)
Object::connect: (receiver name: 'composerWindow')
Now try to post:
Enchant dict for "en_GB" 0x8717d60
knode(4411): KNFolder::saveArticles() : cannot open mbox-file!
Message said it didn't have correct permission.
After this message, I checked the files for permissions but the mbox files
hadn't been created. In previous runs which had all failed I'd copied the KDE3
versions of the files. I have no messages from those tests.
I've since tried setting up a new user so there should have been no problems
with permissions but again Kontact crashed on post.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install OpenSUSE 11.1 (adding Knode to software)
2.Update to KDE 4.2 from factory
3.Set up new user
4.Start Kontact
5.Set up Knode, including a news account and test group.
6. Create a test message and post
Actual Results:
Kontact disappeared.
Expected Results:
Sent the message.
Although I've set reproducibility to "happens every time", that is only true
for above circumstances. If KDE3 files are provided (from .kde/share/) when
running for an existing user, the post goes through on odd occasions.
Although the hardware is listed as 64-bit, I'm running the 32-bit version of
11.1 so that Java works.
