https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=471474
Summary: System sounds but no sound from audio devices after
each 11.1 boot
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.1
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Sound
AssignedTo: tiwai@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: hudsonjr@xxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux) KHTML/4.2.0
(like Gecko) SUSE
Carlos' KDE3 installation on a new Acer eMachines 520
/etc/modules.d/sound reads:
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel
# u1Nb.atOM86gL+R6:82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
dmesg shows:
hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC268, trying auto-probe from BIOS...
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:3047: autoconfig: line_outs=1
(0x14/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:3051: speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:3055: hp_outs=1 (0x15/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:3056: mono: mono_out=0x0
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:3064: inputs: mic=0x18, fmic=0x19, line=0x1a,
fline=0x0, cd=0x0, aux=0x0
Only systems sounds are heard.
rcalsasound status reports:
ALSA sound driver loaded.
I followed the instructions in the SDB but this threw up an error message in
dmesg stating that 'model' is not a valid term.
But after reverting to the original entry in /etc/modules.d/sound and using
rcalsasound restart, it reported:
Shutting down sound driver
done
Starting sound driver: hda-intel
and sound was now available to all devices.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Reboot
2.
3.
Actual Results:
System sounds only until rcalsasound restart is entered; then sound from all
devices.
Expected Results:
Sound from all devices on each reboot.
