https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=470196 Summary: usability: kpowersave refrshes CPU speed when opened, but not battery charge Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.19) Gecko/20081213 SUSE/1.1.14-0.1 SeaMonkey/1.1.14 When opening the kpowersave, it displays the battery charging state, the current power consumption, and the current CPU speed. The user notices that the CPU speed is updated frequently, so expectations are that the displayed estimated battery lifetime will update as well. However it is not true: Only when the Windows is closed and reopened, the battery life-time (i.e. time the laptop can continue to run on battery) is a current estimate. It would be very helpful and consistent if all displayed values would be updated periodically. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Login, click on the kpowersave icon in the task bar to open it 2. Watch the display 3. Work while the window stays open Actual Results: The CPU frequency will be updated frequently, but current power consuption, charging state and estimated battery life time will not be refreshed. Expected Results: Either a snapshot (no updating) is displayed, or a live-view is displayed.
