https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=467207 Summary: boot.md should not operate on entries in /etc/mdadm.conf that point to "/" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=265899) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=265899) applying this patch against md-3.0-10.8 fixes the problem. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008103100 SUSE/3.0.4-2.3 Firefox/3.0.4 I upgraded a system from openSUSE 11.0 to openSUSE 11.1, having configured both / and /home as a raid 5 array. Now, on every boot boot.md gave an error message. The reason was caused by entries in /etc/mdadm.conf that formerly did not cause issues: DEVICE partitions ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid5 UUID=f242bcb0:cdc45827:fb1c24bf:df74dcf5 ARRAY /dev/md2 level=raid5 UUID=2eb6878b:86a44c0f:1d051d32:5b38ef4e "/dev/md0" points to a raid array mounted on "/". Because it is readily mounted and configured when boot.md is run, this entry causes an error message. Though this is harmless, it is irritating. As I cannot check whether this has been caused by the update process or would happen on a "regular" openSUSE 11.1 installation, too, I decided to enter this bug report here. Solution: patch for mdadm - package attached. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: see above Actual Results: cannot tell whether this would happen on a fresh install, too. Expected Results: not try to configure a raid used as "/" becaus it must be readily configured and mounted in order to let the system boot at all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
