Sorry that I haven't answer earlier. Unfortunately I had to uninstall OpenSuse,
because I really need my computer working. Problem I described is very common
with SiS 660 graphic cards and new (?) Xorg. I surfed the internet and found
many people who have the same problems but no solution. I tried to install also
Gnome and Xfce with OpenSuse 11.1 and even Kubuntu 8.10 - there was the same
(no change).
I have no photo of screen now, but when I made normal screenshot and watched it
on other computer, colors of this image were normal so I thik there are only
problems with display. I can try describe it better. Especially on login screen
there are blue (#0000FF), wavy, motionless, vertical ribbons about 50-100
pixels wide. Taskbars of windows have horizontal light olive lines about 10-20
pixels height. On desktop background has blue areas on green OpenSuse
wallpaper. I have noticed they become bigger and stronger if computer is turned
on longer. Sometimes at the begining there are no problems but they will occur
in few minutes.
I tried many configurations in xorg.conf including Modeline settings. Only VESA
works fine but LCD monitor in my laptop must work with 1280x800 resolution and
I can't set it with VESA.
On Ubuntu's bugzilla I found solution of this but it didn't work for me.
Someone claims the sisfb module must be loaded at first (/etc/modules) and in
new configuration it isn't loaded at all. After many unsleepy nights in front
of my computer I gave up, but maby I will try next release of OpenSuse so I'm
still interested in fix this bug as owners of SiS graphic cards.
