I am going to assume that you successfully installed the updated version of
Banshee from the instructions here:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=450125#c16
However, please verify in a reply that you do indeed have these packages. I
added some useful things last night for better debugging/reporting. Paste me
the output of the following command:
rpm -q --changelog banshee-1 | head
Next, run Banshee either from a GUI (Nautilus, Menu, Desktop Launcher, etc) or
from the command line like this:
banshee-1 --debug --redirect-log
Let Banshee run for a minute or so without doing anything. Just start it up and
walk away for a minute.
Now we can investigate what is going on inside Banshee that could be causing
this.
the Banshee process. You will not notice any output from running this command,
it will all go to the redirected log file:
killall -s QUIT banshee-1
Next, run strace to examine any activity in the process. This command will not
finish until you kill it since it is examining the active Banshee process. When
you run this command, wait about 15 seconds, and then terminate it with CTRL+C.
strace -p $(pidof banshee-1) &> ~/Desktop/banshee-cpu-abuse-strace
This will dump the process activity to the file "banshee-cpu-abuse-strace",
which will be located on your desktop. Please *attach* this file to this bug.
Finally, please attach the following file as well. This contains the thread
stack dump and startup log from Banshee: ~/.config/banshee-1/log
Both of those files will be critical to resolving this bug, so please follow
instructions very carefully.
