Summary: Removing DVD-drive from laptop initiatates docking
action
Product: openSUSE 11.1
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Hotplug
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: stephen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
TestOned on a Lenovo T60p with 11.1 in the GNOME environment.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Remove the the DVD drive from the notebook
2. Note that this causes the GNOME dock notification applet to show that the
system has been undocked.
3. Insert a device into the now free slot (a hard drive or the original DVD
drive unit)
4. Note that this causes the GNOME dock notification applet to show that the
system has now been docked.
Expected behaviour:
It would be more appropriate for the system to notify the user of a
hot-dock/undock of a device rather than the generalised dock/undock
notification which relates to docking an entire system to a desktop unit.
