https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=464498 Summary: MSI files mistaken as Word Document Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: nordhaus@informatik.hu-berlin.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Under KDE3, MSI files (Microsoft Software Installation) that are the windows counterparts of rpm or deb files are reported as "Microsoft Word Document". When I click on them, OpenOffice tries to open them which it obviously cannot do. One example is at http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/b/b/cbb8bc58-07b9-46bb-86ba-d12bb0d... While downloading, Firefox correctly recognizes the file and suggests opening it with wine. The incorrect recognition in KDE 3 seems to be due to file content, because "touch foo.msi" will not create a file that is reported as Word Document, but "head efp.msi > foo.msi" will do just that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
