https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=463725 Summary: Yast does not properly create /etc/modprobe.d/sound causing sound not to work in openSUSE 11.1 64 bit Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: lward08@comcast.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other When I manually create my /etc/modprobe.d/sound to contain the following entries my sound works: options snd slots=snd-hda-intel # u1Nb.5OPW8fqLdN3:82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel position_fix=0 single_cmd=0 When I use Yast to set up my sound with the same options (position_fix=0 and single_cmd=0) I it outputs the following /etc/modprobe.d/sound file: options snd slots=snd-hda-intel # u1Nb.5OPW8fqLdN3:82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel Yast is not properly generating this file and it is causing my sound not to work unless I configure it manually. It seems as if Yast does not save any options I specify. Many other people are having problems with openSUSE 11.1 and sound and this may be why. I am running the 64 bit version.
