https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=463176 Summary: problems with umlauts after upgrade Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: daniele@sase.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- After upgrading from opensuse 11.0 to 11.1 umlauts are broken on a strange way. Here some examples: - In vim SOME messages are broken (see "EINFüGEN" in the attachted screen) - Cannot enter umlauts in vim, there is some special charakter entered - Without X or in in xterm the umlauts are also entered with a special character (see xterm-window in attachament) When I login as root in console everything is fine, so I think it's the users lang-settings. Here they are (user): LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=de LC_ALL=de_DE The one from root are: LANG=POSIX LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 I actually don't know what's the best setting... If i change the users settings to the one from root everything SEEMS fine, but the umlauts entered in old files are screwed up (not new entered one). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
