Problems with name resolution persist with the release version of 11.1. While
ethernet connections via networkmanager work for me the pppd fails to write
/etc/resolv.conf. This is now done via netconfig, right?
I get the bug both for land line modem and 3G/UMTS wireless connections. I
tried kinternet and the corresponding SuSE-scripts in /etc/sysconfig as well as
editing /etc/wvdial.conf.
Error messages in /var/log/messages for the 3G connection:
--> local IP address 10.70.88.201
--> pppd: ط[06][08][06][08][08][06][08]
--> remote IP address 10.64.64.64
--> pppd: ط[06][08][06][08][08][06][08]
--> primary DNS address 193.189.244.205
--> pppd: ط[06][08][06][08][08][06][08]
--> secondary DNS address 193.189.244.197
--> pppd: ط[06][08][06][08][08][06][08]
--> Script /etc/ppp/ip-up run successful
--> Default route Ok.
--> warning, no nameserver found `/etc/resolv.conf`
--> Nameserver (DNS) failure, the connection may not work.
/etc/wvdial.conf:
[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","pinternet.interkom.de","",0,0
Init8 = ATM1
Modem Type = USB Modem
Baud = 4608000
New PPPD = yes
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
ISDN = 0
Phone = *99#
Password = o2
Username = o2
As a side note this script works in Ubuntu. So i conclude that Telefonica has
not messed up their modem servers.
