Install fails on Final Release 11.1

Starting udev... udevd-event[63]: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit

It just hangs there. Nothing even after 5 minutes. Have to reset hardware.
I'm presently running 11.0 without any problems. 
Hardware is an Acer Veriton 5500 with ATI Radeon 9200.
