https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=458578 Summary: network installation CD: speed up booting up the disk Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- network installation CD: speed up booting up the disk When you try to install opensuse from network CD then you will see that comparing to KDE Live CD, the start of the disk is terrible slow. At some point booting up is almost frozen. I took a look at console level to see what is going on and there are 6 steps of loading installation system -- each step is 1KB (yes, 1024 bytes) and it takes a bit to load it and even more to wait after 100% of loading is shown -- my guess is there is some uncompressing, but how long can it take to uncompress 1KB chunk of data? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
