Thanks. Can't really tell what's going on with the screenshot tho. The fd
error messages should be harmless. Fedora is also using pata_hpt3x2n, so I
don't think there would be much difference. The HPT controllers seem to have a
tamper and sometimes lock the whole machine up solid and pata_hpt* drivers
haven't exactly received all the love it deserves yet. Can you please do the
followings?
1. Boot the live CD. Post the output of "lspci -nn".
2. From the live CD, do "hdparm -t /dev/sda". Does it work? Does the kernel
complain about anything?
3. If #2 works, mount a filesystem from the disk and try to copy large files
around and watch for kernel messages.
