What I test? Clear installation Windows Vista where windows use completed disk. There exist only one partition /dev/sda1 * start installation openSUSE GMC 11.1 * shrink /dev/sda1 * create /dev/sda2 -> extended * create /dev/sda5 -> "/" * create /dev/sda6 -> swap MBR is not rewritten because there is valid MBR from Vista and yast2-bootloader also did: - activated /dev/sda2 - grub settings in /etc/grub.conf setup --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 (hd0,1) (hd0,4) If there is found MBR from Windows XP or generic boot code or something else yast2-bootloader will propose: - write "generic boot code" to MBR - activated "boot" partition - install GRUB Better and datailed description how it works you can find there: http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/Bootloader_MBR BTW: I found problem with installing GRUB to extended partition because extended partition was not in /dev/disk/by-id/... but command fdisk -l shows it correctly. I am sorry but it is problem of somebody else (kernel-maintainers). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
