Auto-detected graphics on Geode LX based panel PC tries to use module "amd" but
it does not exist -> starts in text mode only.

This is in part because the module was renamed "geode" - see 
http://wiki.x.org/wiki/AMDGeodeDriver

However:

Starting sax2 with "-r -m 0=geode" fixes graphics but in turn breaks the text
consoles which all now show just a white screen.

Using module "vesa" works without breaking consoles, but doesn't provide
acceleration.
